Happy Thursday and… Book Day!!

HAPPY BOOK DAY!!!

Every year we celebrate Book Day to demonstrate our love for books and reading. But why today? Why on the 23rd of April?

Visit the library’s blog and find out! There you will also find out interesting stories about the Greeks, which as you remember, are the topic for this years Book Day.

Reading provides us multiple benefits:

• It reduces stress and makes us calm

• It fills us with knowledge

• Expands our vocabulary and our imagination (and therefore our mind)

• It improves our memory

• Focuses our concentration

• It improves our reading and writing skills

• It provides us with free and endless entertainment

Can you come up with some other benefits of reading?

Today I’d like you to listen to the song The Tale of Brave Ulysses by Cream and do a fill in the gaps activity as we used to do in class. You can listen to it as many times as you need.

After that, here is a link to a page where you will find lots of beautiful Greek myths so you can read as many as you want.

For homework you will read the ones you want (at least one). You will make a list of the myths you read and you will choose your favourite and explain why you liked it.

I hope you enjoy reading these fascinating stories that after 4.000 years are still considered to be among the greatest stories of all time.

Thank you all and happy book day! Don’t forget to keep sending in all of your lovely drawings!

Best,
